GITTS
Research Group on Advanced Telecommunication Technologies and Signal Processing.
We are a research group from the Technological University of Panama (UTP) that seeks to generate and apply knowledge and develop research projects at various levels in the areas of telecommunications and signal processing. Currently, our research focuses on methods and tools for the application of electromagnetic signal processing, artificial intelligence, and communication systems to various domains (energy, biomedicine, precision agriculture, environment, materials), as well as the development of selected aspects of the underlying theory of information and communication, and of signals and systems for a wide range of engineering applications.
The research group is made up of academics from the UTP and other organizations, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students, who are aware of their responsibility to seek effective strategies in order to achieve better academic quality and consolidate lines of research. , they set themselves the goal of forming a team that serves as support in the field of research and university teaching, with a social and industrial projection within the expertise of its members.
If you are interested in signal processing and telecommunications, we encourage you to join GITTS. If you are a student, you will find many opportunities to carry out research as part of your studies.
Research and technological development in the areas of telecommunications and signal processing are of great importance given the relevance of these areas of knowledge and associated technologies in all aspects of modern life and the mechanisms for the development of societies, since they these are based on or require communication systems. Research in telecommunications and signal processing has a first impact on the improvement of the academy and the generation of knowledge; In addition, these areas are directly associated with the development and execution of other projects of an industrial, environmental, and social nature, which require the design, implementation, and use of telecommunications systems, as in the case of industrial, social, health, and education applications. that use, for example, sensor networks, local area networks or advanced communication networks. Also, research and technological development in the areas of telecommunications and signal processing will make it possible to prepare professionals with experience and in-depth knowledge who can evaluate systems at a local, national and international level, their effects and implications for businesses and the community in general. In addition, product certifications, evaluation of facilities and implementation of telecommunication solutions and dissemination of knowledge and technology may be carried out. Research in these areas will also allow technical innovations, development and implementation of commercial solutions that are cheaper or more suitable to the requirements of a society, and the adoption of appropriate policies and standards in the field of telecommunications.
